As Creative Directors, The Restaurant Studio collaborated on stewardship of the narrative and aesthetic identity of this Japanese tavern concept from the inside out. We guided the harmony between architecture, interiors, and culinary expression to ensure every detail supported a singular story.

From curated materials and fixtures to art selection and culinary insights, we preserved a thoughtful creative through-line at every stage. Working in close partnership with David Thompson Architecture and Design, Lennon Construction, and The Indigo Road Hospitality Group, we helped shape a layered and immersive culinary destination in downtown Charleston.

The design unfolds in deliberate contrast: a quiet, textural interior grounded in wabi-sabi philosophy, opening to a back patio and bar alive with the grit and electricity of Tokyo nightlife. Together, these spaces create a layered, immersive experience that evolves from contemplative to kinetic.
